Hello Everyone! I can’t believe it’s been 2 months since we’ve posted, I hope you haven’t forgotten about us!
Hello Everyone! I can’t believe it’s been 2 months since we’ve posted, I hope you haven’t forgotten about us!
After a 4 week grind, I completed the first course of my Master of Science Information Technology Management degree plan. The class, Information Technology Management - C954, required a great deal of reading and memorization to both prepare myself and complete the final exam.
I have mulled over my graduate school options for years: researched various programs, met with program coordinators, and taken grad-level standardized tests. Well, after 10 years, I'm finally starting my Masters of Science in Information Technology Management today at Western Governers University (WGU) Nevada!
So over the course of the last several months at work, I've been using spare cycles to escape the shackles of management (ie: paperwork, meetings, etc) to keep my technical aptitude sharp by working on deploying the ecosystem required to support vSphere Integrated Containers at the University.
Who would have thought? After 112 years, the City of Las Vegas was (finally) awarded a professional sports team, by the NHL of all leagues. To say that critics were skeptical would be an understatement.
Today marks 6 months since you crossed the rainbow bridge. I wish I could say that I miss you less or that your absence has gotten easier with time, but that wouldn't be true. Your brother Scout misses you very much and still looks for you every day.
On May 22nd, our sweet baby girl turned 1 year old. I can hardly believe it! This has been the quickest year of my entire life - it really seems like yesterday that we went to grab a quick breakfast before heading to the hospital, not knowing that we would be having a baby that day.
Recently, my trusty leather Bellroy wallet had been showing heavy signs of wear. Despite being my first minimalist wallet, it had began to swell with various payment, reward, and business cards. After less than three years, the leather had stretched and lost its original shape and was taking up too space in my pocket.
I am still totally obsessed with the Instant Pot and have been researching and trying new recipes, while also sticking to a few of our favorites. One of those favorites is shrimp scampi. It's unbelievably quick and easy to make and has our entire family (including baby Rosslyn) smacking our lips with delight.
Like many others, I swore that I would NEVER drive a minivan. They are so not cool, right?! Well, I am not ashamed to say that I changed my mind and I don't regret it one bit.
Recently, my 2012-era ThinkPad X230 has been showing its age. Over the last 6 years, I've performed numerous performance upgrades and the laptop has been more than enough computer for daily tasks, retro games, multimedia editing, and programming, but for the last 6 months, I've noticed a large crack in the underside of the case that kept getting worse.
It's time for me to share my first recipe for the Instant Pot! This isn't really a recipe, but I felt it was important to share. Hard boiled eggs were the first official thing I made, kind of as a test run so that I could familiarize myself with the IP.
It's been a long time since I remember seeing snow in the Las Vegas Valley. In fact, the last time I recall there being a snowstorm was December of 2006. I will never forget that storm, as I was taking the first significant vacation from my job at Nevada State College and traveling to San Diego to play tourist for a week.
Awhile back, I started seeing friends on social media talking about the Instant Pot. I didn't really pay much attention because I didn't figure that it was really great.
Fast forward to now and the hype never seemed to die down. I started wondering if this appliance was really as fantastic as everyone makes it out to be. After doing a little research, I discovered that the Instant Pot is a multi-function, programmable pressure cooker. I had never used a pressure cooker, but had always heard that they can be very dangerous.
Last weekend, John and I were able to go to The Chelsea at The Cosmopolitan to see his favorite band, Cake. We originally purchased tickets for his birthday and the show was scheduled for October. It was postponed after the 1 October shooting, so we were happy the day had finally come!
It was an interesting experience, to say the least...
